Chanel-Esque

Chanel, Pearl, Grace, Gold, Classic Appeal

If I was going to have to choose a favorite brand, it would undoubtedly be Chanel. I love their timeless, classic appeal and am inspired by Coco Chanel's own story (which you can watch a series of stunning videos about on their website).

For my media coursework I had to write an essay on gender representation in advertising, focusing on a particular type of product. I chose perfume and then decided to focus more specifically on a particular brand- Chanel (natch). We then also had to create our own adverts, based on the product we had been researching, and these are my results.

My perfume 'Pearl' by the brand 'Grace' was, as you can probably see, heavily based on the Chanel N°5 campaigns- I even used the N°5 bottle and just re-branded it. I sincerely hope I did the brand proud.

Moschino AW14

Jeremy Scott

Pop culture meets classic Moschino...

The latest offering from Moschino is certainly very interesting, with influences taken very literally from popular US brands and characters- Sponge bob, Hersheys, McDonalds and more. There are also all of the elements you would expect to see from a Moschino collection- gold chains, leather, pale denim and thick belts. Chanel is also referenced in the McDonalds inspired looks which, I am surprised to find, I like quite a lot.

Jeremy Scott has shown that  fashion doesn't always have to be serious and has created a collection  that will certainly be remembered. All we need now is to see a fruit-loop-packaging inspired dress on the red carpet.
